In this presentation I discuss public opinion data from Russia, focusing on estimates of approval for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin's approval ratings have historically been very high, and if anything they increased after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Can we trust these estimates in an authoritarian context like Russia? Equally importantly, what do approval ratings mean in non-democracies and what do they tell us about the stability of Russia's regime?
